Course Overview
Clinical Practicum IV provides combined experience in obstetrics and pediatrics. Students rotate through labor and delivery units, postpartum and newborn care areas, well-baby nurseries, and pediatric hospital floors. The practicum emphasizes safe delivery care, newborn assessment and stabilization, postpartum maternal monitoring, and pediatric patient care. Students develop competence in family-centered approaches, communicating with patients at different developmental stages, and recognizing complications requiring emergency intervention. Clinical experiences prepare students for diverse healthcare settings and patient populations across the lifespan.
