Course Overview
Capstone Clinical Immersion is the culminating course representing a preceptored clinical experience with approximately 200 hours of practice in the student's chosen area. This intensive practicum emphasizes the transition from student to practicing nurse. Students work closely with an experienced nurse preceptor to provide independent direct patient care, assume increasing responsibility, and develop professional identity. The capstone experience includes structured reflection, portfolio development, and competency verification. Students demonstrate mastery of clinical skills, critical thinking, communication, and professional judgment. This final practicum prepares students for successful licensure examination and entry into professional nursing practice.
